At TerraSurf, every board passes through human hands at every stage of its life. From the moment agave stalks are harvested on a family farm, to the final pull of a brush across plant-based bio-resin in a Pacific Northwest shaping bay, that continuity is not incidental. It is the point.
The industrial surfboard exists to be efficient. To be scaled, replicated, shipped in volume. Foam poured into molds. Toxic resins sprayed in haste. The ocean absorbs the difference, though mindless waste: in microplastics, in chemical runoff, in the slow erosion of the precious environments that make surfing worth doing at all. We envisioned a better way and we endeavor to keep evolving every day.

Our bio-resin is 65% plant-derived and entirely free of Volatile Organic Compounds — the petrochemical agents responsible for the acrid fumes and long-term environmental burden of conventional surfboard production.

All graphics are hand-applied using plant-based paints or digitally rendered imagery transferred through an eco-conscious lamination process. No solvents. No harsh chemistry.

We chose a different economy. One that measures success not in units moved, but in accountability held. We hold every part of the process as sacred, to the shapers who sign their work, to the farmers who tend the land, to the water that receives what we make. A TerraSurf board will be slower to build, more considered in its materials, and more demanding of its makers. That is precisely what makes it worth riding.

At TerraSurf, we chose agave not because it is exotic, but because asks little of the land and gives generously back to it. When harvested with care it produces a fiber of extraordinary structural strength.
Cheap boards are
costly to the planet.
Agave actively restores the environment. Its lateral root system spreads horizontally through the topsoil, binding the earth against erosion, filtering rainwater back into the ground, and replenishing the aquifers that desert communities depend on. Environmental scientists describe it as a keystone species for semi-arid regions, similar to bamboo in tropical regions.
